CIVICA Research Conference - Call for Posters 2023

CIVICA Research Conference - Call for Posters 2023

CIVICA is calling for posters to exhibit at the CIVICA Research Conference, taking place at Sciences Po on 12-13 October 2023 in Paris, France.

The posters should ideally be related (but are not limited) to one (or more) of CIVICA’s four research themes:

  • Societies in Transition, Crises of Earth
  • Democracy in the 21st Century
  • Europe Revisited
  • Data-Driven Technologies for the Social Sciences

Applications from disciplines in the humanities, economics, and political economy are strongly encouraged.

This initiative aims to showcase emerging research in these fields, reward excellence in research and foster networking opportunities amongst the CIVICA community.

Eligibility and award

Individual PhD and postdoctoral researchers from CIVICA’s 10 member universities are invited to submit a poster to share their findings with peers working in the social sciences across Europe. Approximately 100 participants are expected to take part in the conference.

The posters should highlight research results of current projects. One author per project of the selected posters will be invited to attend the conference in Paris – travel costs and accommodation will be covered by the hosting institution (Sciences Po).

The selected posters will be exhibited throughout the conference in Sciences Po’s campus in Paris, and the authors will have the chance to present their posters at a dedicated session. The selected posters may also be featured on the CIVICA communications channels, and the winning poster will receive a prize of 1,000 euro on the second day of the conference. The committee evaluating the winning poster will pay attention to elements such as: relevance and clarity of the topic presented, readability of the poster (graphic design, text, pictures, graphs), strength of the method and conclusion presented, quality of the oral presentation of the poster by the participant.

Guidelines

Interested PhD and postdoctoral researchers must submit an abstract and a draft poster.

Abstracts cannot exceed one-page in length in single spacing formatting, and they must be submitted in PDF format.
