The second round of the student engagement fund has been launched!

Student organisations, as well as groups of students and early-stage researchers not affiliated with student organisations, can apply for funding to facilitate a project that they’re passionate about. The most important point, though, is that projects must be a collaboration between at least two CIVICA universities. This is because the goal of the SEF is to strengthen the bonds between students and student associations between our institutions and encourage inter-European and cross-campus collaboration.

Success of the inaugural round

In the first round of the SEF, 13 projects were selected for funding across all our universities. These included projects ranging from a women’s rights and femicide awareness campaign, to a hackathon addressing education access and quality across Europe.

The funds allocated supported various types of events and activities, such as hackathons and sports events, as well as creation of necessary promotional materials. All the activities that took place over the past year were a huge success, and we received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participating students.

Benefitting the wider community

The SEF is not just for those who apply, though. Selected projects must benefit their communities in some way, or create a positive impact on others, for example by fostering education. The majority of the activities that took place were open to all students from participating institutions.

Furthermore, students had a chance to showcase their projects on the CIVICA Ambassadors Instagram account. They had the opportunity to create any type of content they wished, in order to share their incredible projects with their communities. Various projects did Instagram takeovers or created reels highlighting their events.

Launch of the second call

Do you have a project you’re passionate about that you want to bring to life? Consider applying for funding in the second round of the SEF! Your project should aim to create a positive impact on your community in some way, or have a clear goal to enrich the CIVICA student experience.

Applying to the SEF will give you a chance to cultivate stronger relationships with students from across Europe. Moreover, you’ll have the chance to hone various professional and personal skills, from project management and budgeting, to learning to navigate group projects across borders!
