In this episode of the Meet the European Culture webinar series, Swedish artist and rapper Erik Lundin joins sociologist Sarah Philipson Isaac, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Center for Migration and Integration Research, for a conversation on identity, place, and cultural expression through the lens of music and storytelling.
Drawing on Erik’s artistic work and experiences, the discussion explores how suburban cultural landscapes shape, and are shaped by, the people who inhabit them, and what it means to tell your own story when dominant narratives leave limited space for diverse voices.
The conversation moves between the personal and the structural: how culture and place inform our sense of self, how representation operates in mainstream European society, and how music can function as both refuge and resistance. While rooted in the Swedish context, the themes resonate across Europe, including questions of visibility, identity, and belonging.
