Sustainability lies at the heart of the CIVICA Alliance. Our thematic priority ‘Societies in Transition, Crises of Earth’ focuses on addressing issues surrounding the climate through integrated and interdisciplinary solutions.

In the lead up and during COP30, we have highlighted resources from our partners on the topic of the climate crisis.

CIVICA x COP30

Taking place from 10-21 November 2025, the 30th UN Climate Conference will take place in Belém, Brazil. World leaders, scientists, non-governmental organizations, and civil society will come together to discuss priority actions to tackle climate change.

Sustainability is a core priority of CIVICA, as evidenced by our thematic priority ‘Societies in Transition, Crises of Earth’. Our researchers explore various themes around the climate, sustainable development, and urban transition. Moreover, our Sustainability Board meets regularly to discuss working towards improving the sustainability of CIVICA universities.

Our community is also passionate about climate efforts. Our CIVICA Ambassadors spearheaded the project ‘Green CIVICA’, which laid out concrete steps that our universities could take to make their campuses greener.
