About the CIVICA Faculty Short Visits Scheme

The CIVICA Faculty Short Visits scheme supports faculty and postdoctoral researchers from CIVICA universities who wish to spend 2–5 days at another partner institution. The visits are designed to foster cross-university collaboration, expand research networks and strengthen CIVICA’s European academic community. Activities may include giving a CIVICA-branded talk, participating in conferences, running workshops for PhDs or exploring new joint research projects.

Who can apply?

Faculty and postdoctoral researchers who have a contract with one of the CIVICA universities at the time of both the application and the planned activities.

What is financed?

Funding covers travel and accommodation costs directly related to the visit (up to 5 nights). Per diem allowances may also be available, depending on the rules of the sending/home university.

When can visits take place?

All visits must be completed within one calendar year of the call announcement.

How to apply

Submit the application form, CV and an email from the host institution confirming the visit and planned activities to research@civica.eu by 1 December 2026, 23:59 CET. See "Application process and deadline" for the application form.

Submitted applications will be evaluated by the CIVICA Scientific Committee (SC). The SC consists of vice-presidents for research and/or senior faculty of the 10 CIVICA universities. Selected applications will be financed by the sending/home university in accordance with the home university’s financial rules and allocated CIVICA budget.

The academic relevance of the proposed activities should be convincingly laid out, and the requested budget (number of nights – max. 5 nights) should be commensurate with the duration and/or number of activities proposed. Sending/home institutions may request a modification of your budget prior to approval. LSE applicants can plan their budgets for a max. 3-night stay.
