Democratic backsliding and electoral autocracies | 13 October 2023
The Stockholm Institute of Transition Economics (SITE) and the Forum for Research on Media and Democracy in Eastern Europe (FROMDEE) invites paper submissions to a one-day conference on “Democratic backsliding and electoral autocracies” with a keynote lecture by Arturas Rozenas (New York University).

July 2023 - Notification of acceptance

Scholars at risk in the social sciences | 12 June 2023
The research of particular topics and in specific regimes is continuing to put scholars at great risks, ranging from imprisonment and movement restrictions to loss of position and expulsion from study. Subjection to such threats commonly leads to the direct or indirect silencing of scholars.
Scholars at risk from the social sciences are invited to join this hybrid conference at the EUI to present their research, discuss challenges faced when conducting this research, and the related strategies to mitigate relevant threats.

Workshop on research methods in fundamental rights | 7-8 June 2023
The Centre for Fundamental Rights at the Hertie School is hosting its fourth annual workshop on research methods in fundamental rights in Berlin, Germany and online. The workshop aims to provide doctoral and early-career legal researchers with an opportunity to reflect on diverse research methods in human rights research. Over three days, successful candidates will attend master classes with faculty who will provide guidance and reflections on the methods they have applied in key pieces of their own research.
