CIVICA Research launches with call for collaborative research projects

01-02-2021

Carsten Q. Schneider (CEU) and Guillaume Plantin (Sciences Po) talk about the strategy behind CIVICA Research and CIVICA's first call for research proposals.

How can the European Universities implement new approaches and strategies to tackle global issues shaping our future? Carsten Q. Schneider (CEU) and Guillaume Plantin (Sciences Po) mark the start of CIVICA Research activities with an introduction to the alliance’s research strategy and to its first call for research proposals.

CIVICA - The European University of Social Sciences strengthens its research dimension thanks to new funding provided by the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme. "CIVICA Research" complements CIVICA's education strategy and its activities will be rolled out between 2021 and 2023.

Among its goals, CIVICA Research will develop a European research and innovation environment, which will allow researchers to collaborate with peers from other European countries and benefit from a joint scientific agenda as well as shared platforms, tools and practices.

To kick off CIVICA Research activities, CIVICA launches its first Call for Research Proposals, aimed at developing new collaborative research projects between member universities.

We asked Carsten Q. Schneider, Professor in the Political Science Department at Central European University (the coordinating institution for the design of CIVICA’s strategic scientific agenda), and Guillaume Plantin, Vice President for Research at Sciences Po (the coordinating institution of the CIVICA alliance), what can researchers at member universities expect from CIVICA Research and the call for proposals.
