CIVICA’s Early Stage Researcher Course Catalogue now online

19-01-2021

Early stage researchers attending CIVICA member institutions have a new resource for research training: the Early Stage Researcher Course Catalogue.

CIVICA has made an important step forward in its efforts to promote the training of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers attending institutions within the alliance.

On 19 January 2021, CIVICA’s Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Course Catalogue was launched. This online tool brings together the courses CIVICA partners offer to doctoral and postdoctoral researchers across the alliance. It allows researchers to browse course descriptions and syllabi, and to apply for admission to the courses of interest.

The platform also permits lecturers and administrators to evaluate applications and to keep track of course registrations. Each CIVICA partner has discretion over the courses it offers, seminar size, and the selection criteria for admission.

The course catalogue marks a new phase in the alliance’s development. Partners are now pooling their expertise and resources in a way that directly benefits the doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at their institutions. Professor Corinna Unger, Academic Coordinator of the CIVICA work package dedicated to this initiative, says: “This is an important step toward the creation of a common European space for the training of early stage researchers. We are grateful to all of our partners for their constructive cooperation and for their generosity in making courses accessible to CIVICA researchers.”
