Aurelie Villanueva, EUI

Making education more inclusive through digital technologies

24-05-2021

Ahead of the 3 June CIVICA conference on "Digitalisation and the Future of Higher Education," Aurélie Villanueva (EUI) argues that the flexibility afforded by digital education is a potential game changer for the future of universities.

Aurélie Villanueva is a PhD researcher in the Law Department of the European University Institute, and a founding member of the researcher-led initiative Thoughts for Europe.

In the video below, we talk to Aurélie about the move online at the EUI, participating in online CIVICA PhD seminars, and using current experiences to improve education in the post-COVID world. Thanks to digital tools, "education has the potential to be more inclusive, especially toward workers but also towards people who have care duties at home," says Aurélie. Given her background in social engagement, she also reflects on how universities could collaborate with the broader society on the digital transformation.

To learn more about the impact of digitalisation on the present and future of universities, from the point of view of students, PhDs, faculty, researchers, and policymakers from our alliance and beyond, sign up for the online CIVICA conference on this topic on 3 June at 5:15pm CET.
